It’s deadline time for Discussion Meet hopefuls

Oct 23, 2017, 08:00 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, Marketing Team

The registration deadline is Nov. 6 for the INFB Young Farmer Discussion Meet, to be held Dec. 9 and 10 during the annual state convention in French Lick.

To help competitors prepare for state and national meets, American Farm Bureau Federation hosted a series of trainings earlier this fall, and the recordings from those trainings are available. To receive them, email Allie Rieth.

Each recording includes an industry expert discussing one of the five questions that will be used in INFB's Discussion Meet. These topics also will be used at the 2018 AFBF Young Farmer & Rancher Discussion Meet in Nashville and the 2018 YF&R Collegiate Discussion Meet in Reno, Nevada. Additional resources for competitors can be found on INFB's website.

CollegiateFB_Discussion MeetMeanwhile, collegiate Discussion Meets will be held at Purdue on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. and at Vincennes University on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.

Any Collegiate Farm Bureau member 18 years or older is eligible to compete. To register, contact Rieth at the email address above.

The winners of each collegiate Discussion Meet will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and will compete in the national Collegiate Discussion Meet at the 2018 AFBF YF&R Conference in Reno.

More information on both the young farmer and collegiate Discussion Meets is available on INFB’s website.
