Boone County farmer and business owner Don Lamb was elected to the Boone County Council in a caucus on Tuesday, February 13. He credits Indiana Farm Bureau with inspiring him to run for the open seat. Lamb and his wife, Jodie, came up through the ranks at Farm Bureau and won INFB's Young Farmer Achievement Award in 1997. He currently serves as the Boone County Farm Bureau vice president.

More than 40 women from Indiana Farm Bureau met with their legislators at the Statehouse on February 13 for INFB's annual Women's Leadership Committee Legislator Appreciation Day. It was an opportunity for the women to talk about the organization's 2018 legislative priorities - protecting farmers and their operations; strengthening rural quality of life, limiting annexation and ensuring assessment uniformity - and how these issues affect them personally.

The alliance, also known as IANA, is a partnership of 14 agriculture organizations, government agencies and academia, including Indiana Farm Bureau and the United States Department of Conservation Service in Indiana, working to improve soil health and nutrient management practices.

Indiana Farm Bureau, USDA's Indiana Natural Resources Conservation Service and 12 other organizations have formed a new non-profit called the Indiana Nutrient Alliance (IANA). Indiana State Conservationist Jane Hardisty, who announced the partnership at INFB's state convention, says the group will build upon the state's successes in improving soil health and nutrient management, and involve more Hoosier farmers in those efforts.
