INFB hopes to make ‘Taste’ bigger and better than ever

Jun 24, 2022, 14:58 PM by Morgan Hauger, INFB marketing team

Taste From Indiana Farms, an annual event sponsored by the Indiana Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, is back for 2022, and volunteers are needed to assist with the event.

Due to the construction of the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, many events and programs at the state fair have new locations, dates and times this year. Taste From Indiana Farms will have a new location – the state fair’s Indiana Arts Building – and will run from Wednesday, Aug. 17-Saturday, Aug. 20. Volunteers will be distributing prepackaged food samples, which this year will include honey, soybeans, popcorn, dairy, corn, protein, and watermelon, said Blaire Bennett, INFB’s member engagement coordinator.

In 2021, more than 10,000 fairgoers came to the Ag/Hort Building for information about Indiana agriculture, science and cooking demonstrations, and free samples of food. This was double the number of fairgoers in previous years. As the 2022 event approaches, INFB hopes to increase the number of fairgoers who attend the event, and that means more volunteers will be needed.

Volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the Indiana State Fair, a meal voucher for a sandwich from the Indiana Beef or Pork tents, along with a thank-you gift upon arrival to the event. Volunteers are needed all four days for three-hour shifts between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

“Volunteers are an integral part of making Taste From Indiana Farms happen. Educating and engaging with fairgoers in this capacity allows our volunteers to be the face of Indiana agriculture, and we could not put on an event of this size without them,” Bennett explained.

If you are interested in volunteering, the link to register can be found in the “Events” section of INFB’s website. Reach out to your district education and outreach coordinator with any additional questions.
