Faces of Farm Bureau: Introducing Matthew Payne, regional manager

May 3, 2022, 10:15 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

After representing Indiana Farm Bureau District 10 for a year as a member of the Young Farmers & Ag Professionals State Committee, Matthew Payne became a different kind of representative in March when he was hired as the new regional manager in that same district.

In this position, Payne will work with Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Scott and Washington counties, serving as the liaison between county Farm Bureaus and the state organization. His primary role is assisting the counties with leadership development, event planning and community outreach activities.

Prior to Farm Bureau, Payne worked as a funeral director and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both Indiana and Kentucky.

While he does not currently farm, he enjoys assisting neighbors and friends who farm with tasks around their operations.

“I dream of having a small 40- or 60-acre cow/calf operation in the future,” he added.

In addition to serving on the YF&AP State Committee, his other volunteer roles include serving on the Floyd County Farm Bureau board and as the Floyd County YF&AP representative. He and his wife, Rachel, also are active in their church.

Payne and Rachel live in Floyds Knobs – his hometown – with their 2-year-old son Benjamin and 7-month-old daughter Ruthann.
