New half-day workshop focuses on ag zoning

Jan 5, 2022, 11:28 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

Agricultural zoning is the topic of a new workshop to be offered virtually by Indiana Farm Bureau on Feb. 10.

Registration for the Agriculture Planning and Zoning School opened Jan. 6 and closes Feb. 7. Attendance is free, courtesy of the Indiana Agriculture Law Foundation (INAgLaw).

The workshop will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon ET and will focus on agricultural planning and zoning issues, with a particular emphasis on the importance of sound local decision-making, said John Shoup, director of INAgLaw.

Farmers, landowners and county officials – including those involved in area planning, local zoning boards and county attorneys – are the intended audiences for the workshop, Shoup explained.

“Those wanting to improve their understanding of the process in Indiana should plan to attend,” he added.

The speakers for this brand-new workshop are:

  • Jim Federoff of Snyder Morgan Federoff & Kuchmay LLP. Federoff will talk about a new guide to ag zoning, which will be made available after the program.
  • Brianna Schroeder of Janzen Schroeder Ag Law, who will discuss hot topics in agricultural zoning.
  • Alan Townsend of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, who will provide an overview of Board of Zoning Appeals decisions.

More information is available on INFB’s website; by contacting Mark Thornburg, 317-692-7849; or by contacting John Shoup, 317-692-7801.
