Faces of Farm Bureau: meet Janis Highley, District 4 education and outreach coordinator

Mar 6, 2019, 12:37 PM by Garrett Kelly, Marketing Team

It’s clear that the members of District 4 think highly of their new district education and outreach coordinator, Janis Highley, having elected her to represent them in that role in December 2018.

Highley, a resident of Warren, Indiana, said her role is to represent District 4 counties at state and national functions. She is eager to share the resources and information learned at these events with members in Adams, Blackford, Grant, Howard, Huntington, Jay, Miami, Tipton, Wabash and Wells counties.

“Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization, and it is very important that each county has boots on the ground to ensure our members’ voices are being heard,” said Highley. “I’m excited and honored to be a representative for the counties of District 4.”

Highley graduated from Huntington University with a degree in business management. She is currently employed at Strategic Grain Hedge, LLC, as a grain analyst assistant. She helps farmers and agribusinesses protect their bottom line through grain sales and hedges on the Chicago Board of Trade. Highley also enjoys helping with the family farm and construction company.

When she’s not at work or volunteering for Farm Bureau, Highley enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Larry, have been married for 31 years.

They have two grown sons, Aaron, who will be marrying his fiancée, Annalise, in June, and Brian, who is married to Jessica. Brian and Jessica have one son, Elijah, and are expecting another son, Aiden, to arrive in April.
