Indiana shoppers will see slightly higher prices than last year as they prepare for their Fourth of July cookout. Indiana Farm Bureau’s annual summer cookout market basket revealed Hoosiers are paying an average of $71.49 for a cookout feeding 10 people this summer, or $7.15 per person – a 5% increase compared to last year.

Registration is now open for Indiana Farm Bureau’s Agricultural Contracting Program. The event will be held virtually on Thursday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern Time.

After 38 years of dedicated service to Indiana Farm Bureau (INFB), Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer Mark Sigler has made plans to retire, effective Sept. 1, 2025. The INFB board of directors voted to appoint Megan Ritter as the next chief operating officer.

Winners of the American Farm Bureau Federation Ag Innovation Challenge competition were announced today at AFBF’s Convention closing general session in San Antonio, Texas. Indianapolis-based company, Gripp, is the winner of this year’s competition. The Farm Bureau Ag Innovation Challenge provides opportunities for Farm Bureau members to showcase business innovations being developed for agriculture.

The Indiana Ag Law Foundation (INAgLaw) hosted a new workshop last month focused on helping families work together to begin the farm transition process. The day-long workshop, which was held at Indiana Farm Bureau headquarters, featured sessions designed to generate thoughts and ideas about farm succession planning. Six multi-generational families attended and worked together with legal experts to further the process of their succession planning.

Logan Springstun of Warrick County is the winner of the 2024 Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Discussion Meet. The competition, which was held Dec. 13-14 in French Lick as part of the INFB annual state convention, is one of the four major awards presented to Farm Bureau members aged 35 and younger.

The 2025 Indiana Farm Bureau Book of the Year -- Right This Very Minute: A Table-to-Farm Book About Food and Farming, written by Lisl H. Detlefsen with illustrations by Renee Kurilla – educates children where the food they eat daily comes from in an informative and fun way.

Hoosiers gathering around the table for Thanksgiving dinner will find slight relief when it comes to purchasing ingredients, but the meal still reflects historically high costs. Indiana Farm Bureau’s annual Thanksgiving market basket survey shows that Hoosier shoppers can expect to spend approximately 2% less at the grocery store compared to 2023.

As results are finalized in the 2024 general election, ag-friendly candidates in Indiana came out as winners. All 78 candidates endorsed by Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT and AgELECT – the organization’s federal and state-level, nonpartisan political action committees (PAC) – have won their races.

Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans announced it has more than 4,850 enrolled plans at the end of the third quarter, providing health coverage to more than 10,000 Hoosiers.
