New conference challenges farmers to consider the future of farming

Jun 24, 2025, 09:31 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro

On Aug. 15, Indiana Farm Bureau is offering something new: the first-ever Critical Issues Summit.

Registration is open for the event, which will be held at Embassy Suites, Noblesville. The cost is $25 for INFB members and $50 for nonmembers.

The goal of this event is to bring people together to consider the future of farming and to foster conversation about issues facing agriculture today.

Among the confirmed speakers is Bret Sciotto, CEO of Idealyst Innovation, who will talk about the future of farming including the diversity of crops raised, supply chain challenges and demographics that are changing demand.

Also planned is a panel discussion on world trade and the effect of tariffs on U.S. goods featuring Ryan LeGrand, CEO and president of U.S. Grains Council; John Hinners, senior vice president of industry relations for the U.S. Meat Export Federation; and Greg Tyler, CEO and president of the USA Poultry Egg Export Council.

Other speakers and panels will cover topics that include Make America Healthy Again (MAHA), Senate Bill 1 and changes made to Indiana’s tax code, and a session focusing on local opportunities for local leaders. Anyone with an interest in learning more about agriculture’s hottest issues is encouraged to attend.
