Farming conference for military veterans to be held July 11-12

Jun 24, 2025, 09:07 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro

Join veterans from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and across the Midwest at the first Veteran Farming Conference, to be held Friday and Saturday, July 11–12, at the Farmstead Inn & Conference Center, Shipshewana, Indiana.

This two-day conference will provide educational workshops, practical training and networking opportunities designed specifically for veteran farmers, agricultural professionals and caregivers.

The schedule for July 11 includes workshops focusing on business classes and mental health training. Both include lunch.

July 12 will feature interactive sessions led by veteran farmers and agricultural specialists; a vendor expo featuring regional businesses, tools and resources; and networking opportunities. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

The standard registration fee is $120 per veteran household, covering all workshops, meals and conference access. Veteran spouses and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

Thanks to generous support from Hoosier Uplands and USDA funding, there is also a special ticket price of $20 for qualified veterans. To check eligibility for this special price or to apply, contact Joe Ricker, Joericker@ateaseorchard.com.

Indiana Farm Bureau is a sponsor of this event. To register as a sponsor or vendor, please contact Joe Ricker.

The deadline for the special conference rate for rooms at the Farmstead Inn has already passed, but for more information, call the facility directly at 260-768-4595 and mention the Veteran Farming Conference.
