November 16 is Organization Day at the Indiana General Assembly, and it’s the day when legislators gather to be sworn in, fill leadership positions, meet with their caucuses and participate in other ceremonial activities.
For Indiana Farm Bureau, it also will be a time to build relationships with legislators. INFB will be providing breakfast to legislators and staff during the morning while having conversations with legislators as they come in.
“It’s an opportunity to get back to normal,” said Andy Tauer, INFB executive director of public policy. The restrictions caused by COVID-19 made it difficult to engage with many legislators last year, Tauer explained, so the hope for this year is to refocus those relationships.
“We’re going to try to go back to normal, even though there are still challenges,” said Katrina Hall, senior director of policy strategy and advocacy.
It also is a time to thank legislators who have supported agriculture for their service, Tauer added.
