Delegate session to be presented virtually on Aug. 28

Aug 4, 2021, 14:31 PM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

Indiana Farm Bureau’s annual delegate session is where the organization determines its policy for the upcoming year, and this year’s event will be presented virtually on Aug. 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Delegates will receive log-in information directly, and non-delegate members will be able to view the proceedings in real time via a webcast.

The event is being held virtually based on the success of last year’s first-ever virtual delegate session.

“We received many positive comments about the virtual format saving everyone travel time,” said Mark Sigler, INFB’s chief operating officer. Sigler added that although COVID-19 is not the main reason for conducting the session virtually this year, it was a factor because the restrictions that may still be in effect for anyone unvaccinated creates challenges for a group this large.

At the session, each of Indiana’s 92 counties will be represented by voting delegates, the number of which is determined by the size of the county’s membership. The delegates will vote on INFB’s 2022 policy and craft INFB’s recommendations for changes to American Farm Bureau Federation policy.

Members who are not familiar with INFB’s policy process can find out more at a special session of INFB FACTS, a monthly lunch-and-learn webinar. The next webinar will be held Aug. 25 at noon EDT. Kendell Culp, INFB vice president and resolutions committee chair, along with members of the public policy team, will discuss the upcoming delegate session, what members can expect, and how policy makes its way through the process.

Register for INFB FACTS on INFB’s website, www.infb.org/events.

The policy recommendations that the delegates will be considering were submitted by county Farm Bureaus as well as the state policy advisory groups, the State Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Committee and the Collegiate Farm Bureaus. Delegates will also be able to propose policy from the virtual delegate floor.
