Thanks to months of legislative advocacy efforts on the part of Indiana Farm Bureau’s grassroots and staff, Farm Bureau members will be able to apply for affordable and dependable health care coverage beginning Oct. 1.
The new program, now branded Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans, will offer three kinds of plans to members, including Medicare supplements, dental/vision bundles and under 65 individual/family plans. The traditional plans for people under age 65 will offer a wide array of services and benefits, including:
An internal group made up of staff from both Indiana Farm Bureau and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is charged with the development of these plans and the delivery to members.
INFB members will be able to start applying to the program beginning the fourth quarter of this year, with benefits starting Jan. 1, 2021.
As required by law, there will be a 30-day waiting period for those who are not members at the time of application for health benefits. INFB’s goal is to provide many members – including farmers, those who work on farms, agribusiness professionals and rural entrepreneurs – with health benefits that are more affordable than are currently available to them.
