Indiana Farm Bureau is in the process of creating and implementing the health care benefit plans for members made possible by a change in state law just passed by the General Assembly. The goal is to have plans available to members by the fourth quarter of 2020.
“We’re planning on rolling out the health care program during the fourth quarter of this year,” INFB President Randy Kron said. “We’re still on track, but it will take a lot of work.”
The program, now named Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans, will benefit members in all 92 counties who do not have access to group insurance plans or who work somewhere primarily for health benefits. This would include farmers, those who work on farms, agribusiness professionals and rural entrepreneurs with fewer than two employees or who do not qualify for significant Affordable Care Act subsidies.
The initial marketing efforts for the program will be aimed at members. Only Farm Bureau members are eligible for the program – and in fact, the legislation passed by the General Assembly includes a requirement that someone has to be a member for at least 30 days before being eligible to apply for INFB Members Health.
It’s therefore important for members who may be interested in the program to ensure their membership is current. And if members know of non-members who might be interested, they should encourage them to join Farm Bureau so that their eligibility won’t be delayed.
INFB already has established a webpage that will answer the most common questions about the new program: http://infb.org/INFBHealthPlans. In addition to providing the most up-to-date information on the program, the page also features a web form to complete if you want new information sent directly to you when it becomes available.
