Indiana Farm Bureau’s District 10 has a new district education and outreach coordinator. Theresa Gottbrath, a resident of Washington County, now represents Clark, Dearborn, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, Switzerland and Washington counties.
In her new position, Gottbrath serves as the primary contact for the county education and outreach coordinators in District 10 and provides them with resources and information to better promote agriculture.
“Farm Bureau has given my family so many wonderful opportunities, and it’s a great way to continue to give back,” said Gottbrath. “I’m very excited about the role and hope to encourage people in agriculture or with different professions to get involved.”
Gottbrath was honored as the Agriculture in the Classroom program’s Volunteer of the Year in 2019. She is a grain farmer and taught middle school for nearly 30 years before retiring. Since her retirement, she serves on the local school board and continues to promote agriculture education to students in her community.
When she’s not volunteering for Farm Bureau or helping with the farm, Gottbrath enjoys gardening, painting, sewing and taking on home projects. She and her husband, David, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 13.
They have three daughters, Marla, Heather and Deidra, and four grandchildren. “We are a pretty close-knit family,” she said. Gottbrath and her family take pride in their various leadership roles with Farm Bureau.
