Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron has often said that in order for Farm Bureau to remain relevant in the next 100 years, it must continue to attract new, younger members. Well, that’s exactly what Becca Bonnell has in mind with her new position.
The former INFB data administrative coordinator has recently taken on a new role – as INFB’s youth engagement coordinator. In that capacity Bonnell will focus on building relationships with collegiate Farm Bureaus and with 4-H and FFA chapters across the state.
“I want to be able to build these relationships and see how Farm Bureau can have an impact on these young people to help grow our organization,” Bonnell explained. Her first focus will be on the existing collegiate Farm Bureau chapters – Purdue, Vincennes and Huntington.
“We need to make sure that college students are getting the most out of their engagement with Indiana Farm Bureau,” she said.
According to Megan Ritter, INFB executive director and Bonnell’s team leader, Bonnell has proven herself as an innovative leader on the organizational development team. “She has some unique ideas as to how we can get more high school and college students involved in Farm Bureau and how we can build more dynamic relationships with these groups,” Ritter explained.
That certainly bodes well for Farm Bureau’s future.
