(Indianapolis) – Oct. 17, 2024 – Indiana Farm Bureau has announced the winners of the 2024 INFB Photo Contest. The contest was open to all INFB members 18 years or older and photos were required to represent agriculture and rural life in Indiana.

The following three photographs placed in the contest and will receive a monetary prize.

  • 1st Place: Amanda Keil, Gibson County ($250)
  • 2nd Place: Kaleigh Frields, Spencer County ($150)
  • 3rd Place: Barb Hatton, Decatur County ($100)

The winning photos were chosen from over 275 entries submitted during the contest period of Aug. 1 through Sept. 30, 2024. They were evaluated by a panel of independent judges based on agriculture or rural focus, sharpness quality of image, subject, composition, technical quality, impact and creativity.

Keil’s first-place photo highlights a young girl with a sheep in a pasture and a corn field in the distance. The young girl is Keil’s daughter, and the sheep is one of 40 in the flock that she and her family raise.

“This photo is where my heart is,” explained Keil. “I got into photography to take photos of my kids. I also love animals and raising our flock of sheep, so this photo combines all my passions.”

Keil is a natural light photographer located in Haubstadt, Indiana, who enjoys capturing the emotions and connections of her subjects.

“Agriculture is more than farming in the fields - there is a whole livestock aspect too,” Keil noted. “We love raising our kids to take care of the livestock and teaching them to be responsible for more than just themselves.”

The second- and third- place photos represent the growing season in Indiana. The second-place photo, taken by Kaleigh Frields, features a combine harvesting soybeans with a young boy in the field, and Barb Hatton’s showcases a planter during planting season through the trees.

In addition to the monetary prize, the three winning photos will be displayed at the 2024 INFB State Convention this December in French Lick, Indiana. The convention will be held Thursday-Saturday, December 12-14, at the French Lick Springs Resort.
