(Indianapolis) – March 15, 2023 – Indiana Farm Bureau will host a webinar to educate landowners and those in the ag community about the carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) process on Tuesday, March 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. ET.

“In the past few years, carbon capture and sequestration has become an important topic of conversation both at the Statehouse and on the farm,” said Randy Kron, INFB president. “We believe it’s the role of Indiana Farm Bureau to share information with our members and the larger ag community in order for all of us to make sense of this complicated issue.”

Attorney John E. Rhine of Dentons Bingham Greenebaum LLP will lead the presentation on technical considerations and the elements of a good agreement when it comes to CCS on your land. He also will address the following frequently asked questions:

  • Why is CCS happening now?
  • What resources are needed for CCS, and what are your rights?
  • What terms and conditions should be in place before you grant access to pore space for CCS?

Widely respected in his field, Rhine's practice focuses on carbon capture and sequestration, coal, oil and gas law. He has represented many of the nation's largest mineral producers and lenders in transactions and litigation, as well as numerous entrants into the carbon capture and sequestration field.

“There are multiple complex issues involved in the CCS process of which landowners need to be aware,” said Mark Thornburg, INFB’s executive director of legal affairs. “This webinar is a great opportunity to hear from a recognized expert in a field that is still evolving, and get your questions answered.”

Attendees must register via Zoom by Monday, March 27. For more information and to register, go to www.infb.org/events.
