Farmers and ranchers are invited to submit applications for the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2026 Farm Dog of the Year contest. The contest celebrates farm dogs and the many ways they support farmers and ranchers.
Applications for the contest close Friday, July 11. The grand prize winner will earn $5,000, a year’s worth of Purina dog food and a $500 travel stipend to the 2026 AFBF convention in Anaheim, California.
The People’s Choice Pup, a popular social media element of the Farm Dog of the Year competition, returns for 2026. Profiles of several dogs nominated for the contest will be shared beginning in September, with the public invited to vote. The winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize from Purina.
