Indiana Farm Bureau and county Farm Bureaus offer a variety of scholarships for members and their families, and the deadline for many of those scholarships is March 1.
A full list of the available scholarships, along with their requirements and the application forms, is available at www.infb.org/scholarships. Following is a summary of some of the Farm Bureau scholarship options:
County and district scholarships
The scholarship site is the starting point to apply for many of the county and district scholarships. The applications for most of these are available through Reviewr, INFB’s online scholarship application platform, which is linked on the site. The deadline for all of these is March 1.
Separate links also are available on the scholarship site for counties that use another process in place of Reviewr. This includes Allen County, which awards three $3,500 scholarships to voting member families and provides funding for two additional $3,500 scholarships that are awarded through the county insurance staff, according to regional manager Susan Lawrence. The deadline for those is March 15.
And some counties use a different process altogether, such as Blackford County, which provides three or four scholarships each year, depending on the number of qualified applicants. The exact deadline for those scholarships hasn’t been determined yet, but it will be early April, according to Alice Gillis, who chairs Blackford County’s scholarship effort.
“I still take paper applications to the high schools and then I go collect them,” Gillis said. “I get great cooperation from the school counselors.”
Gillis said she’s avoided an online application only because she lives in an area with very limited internet, but that she’s planning to offer an online option sometime soon.

Payment will be made directly to the college or university. All the scholarships require applicants to be the child of an INFB member or be a student member and to remain so while the scholarship is in force. The scholarships are:
