Theme of new strategic plan is ‘working together’

Nov 2, 2022, 11:14 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

As Indiana Farm Bureau finalizes the goals and objectives to implement in the new strategic plan for 2023-2026, one thing is certain: The key phrase will be “working together.”

INFB Vice President Kendell Culp, who was a member of the board’s strategic plan committee, said that INFB is committed to working together with all levels of Farm Bureau, with stakeholders and with partners.

“Working together for a common purpose is critical to the success of Farm Bureau at all levels,” Culp said. “The foundation of our new strategic plan is built around how we achieve more collaboratively and how we work together to identify how to achieve our goals.”

These goals will be focused in four areas:

  • “Working together we will advocate.” INFB will shape public policy by listening to members at all levels of Farm Bureau through the grassroots policy development process, understanding future member needs, activating grassroots members, engaging members and measuring outcomes.
  • “Working together we will engage.” INFB will grow the engagement of members and stakeholders throughout the ag ecosystem, welcoming diverse agriculture backgrounds and engaging through shared values.
  • “Working together we will add value by sharing knowledge.” The research for the strategic plan shows that members have a thirst for unbiased intelligence, and INFB will be the main resource used to share this intelligence, using partners, gathering stakeholders and demonstrating thought leadership.
  • “Working together we will innovate and grow.” INFB will ensure organizational strength at all levels by fostering a culture of innovation, growth and value creation. It will drive organizational growth by using shared values to build broader awareness, advocacy and membership. And it will understand the value of INFB initiatives to members and deliver a positive member experience.

Developing “Indiana Farm Bureau Strategic Plan 2023-2026” has been a multi-step process designed to collect more input from members and stakeholders than ever before. These steps included a survey that collected more than 1,000 responses, “activation sessions” for county Farm Bureau leaders, district and county meetings hosted by district directors and listening sessions with state committees. These goals and action items were created in partnership with Farm Bureau county leaders, Aimpoint Research and approved by the INFB board of directors.
