New to this year’s Indiana Farm Bureau State Convention is AgriConnect, a conference-within-a-conference designed for agribusiness professionals, bankers, biotechnology experts, local, state and national government officials, educators and farmers – anyone with agriculture-related interests in Indiana and beyond.
Special speakers and events are planned for AgriConnect, which will be held Friday, Dec. 16, at the JW Marriott from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this event is to bring INFB and its agriculture industry partners together to learn what’s trending, to hear about the latest technology and to network.
General sessions will highlight global ag topics such as sustainability, climate change, inflation, land values and more.
The event’s first speaker will be Frank Mitloehner, associate professor of animal science at University of California-Davis, who will talk on “Rethinking Methane: Agriculture’s Path to Climate Neutrality” starting at 9 a.m.
At the 4:30 p.m. general session, the keynote speaker will be geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan, author of The New York Times best seller, The End of the World is Just the Beginning, in which Zeihan maps out a world where countries or regions will have no choice but to make their own goods, grow their own food, secure their own energy, fight their own battles, and do it all with populations that are both shrinking and aging.
The day will conclude with a cocktail reception that will provide networking opportunities.
The cost is $45 per person and includes lunch. Anyone who has registered for the convention does not need to register separately for AgriConnect.
Like other convention events, AgriConnect will be held at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, 10 South West St., Indianapolis, IN 46204. For an informational flyer and registration materials, visit the “Events” section of INFB’s website (www.infb.org/events) and click on “AgriConnect.”
