Indiana Farm Bureau is in the process of creating a new strategic plan, and the goal is to create a plan that will carry the organization into the future.

“It is important to look at what farmers and agriculture will need in the future as well as the organizations and initiatives that will impact the landscape INFB will operate in,” said Megan Ritter, INFB’s senior executive director of administration, who is leading the strategic planning process.

A complete, actionable plan will be ready by the beginning of August, Ritter added.

The effort began at the end of 2021 and includes collecting input from:

• INFB’s voting and associate members.
• Indiana farmers, both members and non-members.
• County and state INFB leadership.

The INFB board of directors were joined on Feb. 23 by members from around the state for the first of two “activation sessions,” which offered an opportunity for discussion about what kind of organization INFB will need to be moving forward.  A second activation session will be held in June.

The board also hosted county and district discussions in March and April.

“These were great discussions about the opportunities and challenges of a grassroots organization,” Ritter said.
