Mental health workshops to be offered across Indiana

Mar 2, 2022, 08:19 AM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

The Indiana Rural Health Association and AgrIInstitute have joined together to offer workshops across the state in 2022 to raise awareness and reduce stigma about mental health, mental illness and suicide prevention.

The workshops are intended for rural leaders and people involved in the farm community as well as those in health care fields, said Beth Archer, AgrIInstitute executive director. Speakers will highlight the challenges involved with mental health issues and resources available in the community to help support those in need, including a special session on Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) training.

Although the first of the workshops were held in February and early March, they continue through July:

  • Kosciusko County – Leesburg, March 16.
  • Fulton County – Rochester, March 17.
  • LaPorte County – LaPorte, April 6.
  • Jasper County – Rensselaer, April 8.
  • White County – Wolcott, April 20.
  • Warren County – Williamsport, April 21.
  • Montgomery County – Crawfordsville, May 4.
  • Johnson County – Franklin, May 5.
  • Putnam County – Greencastle, May 18.
  • Sullivan County – Sullivan, May 19.
  • Daviess County – Washington, June 8.
  • Dubois County – Ferdinand, June 9.
  • Washington County – Salem, June 22.
  • Scott County – Scottsburg, June 23.
  • Ripley County – Osgood, July 6.
  • Randolph County – Winchester, July 7.
  • Huntington County – Huntington, July 20.
  • Dekalb County – Auburn, July 21.

Each of the programs runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (local time). Attendance is free but registration is required. Registration for each workshop is limited to 35 and is open now on the Indiana Rural Health Association website.
