County YF&AP programs to be recognized

Jul 6, 2021, 13:50 PM by Kathleen M. Dutro, INFB Marketing Team

Applications are now available online for the 2021-2022 Indiana Farm Bureau county Young Farmers & Ag Professionals awards program.

The program recognizes county YF&AP programs that have done an outstanding job of promoting agriculture and Farm Bureau in their counties. Programs are evaluated based on a scoring system applied to the county’s application.

The highest scoring county program will be awarded $1,000 to take back to its county Farm Bureau, while two runners-up will be awarded $500. The counties can then use the funds to improve an existing program or aid in the creation of a new YF&AP county program or event.

Other awards include:

  • “Most Improved,” to be awarded to the county that has the greatest increase in score, based upon the comparison of the previous two application forms.
  • “Awakening Award,” given to up to three counties. It recognizes county YF&AP programs that are new or have not applied for the contest in the last three years.

Counties may also be recognized for contributing the most volunteer hours, dollars or pounds of food donated to the Feeding America food bank or to an affiliated organization.

Recognition will take place during the INFB Young Farmers & Ag Professionals Conference, held annually at the end of January.
