With many of Indiana’s business-related restrictions being reduced or lifted and with the number of vaccinated Hoosiers continuing to rise, state and county Farm Bureau offices have reopened for some in-person meetings.

“The offices never closed,” emphasized Mark Sigler, INFB chief operating officer. “Employees have continued their work, boards have continued to meet virtually, and the business of Farm Bureau has gone on throughout lockdown,” he explained.

What’s changed is that with the decrease in infection risk, the state and county offices are once again open for walk-ins, appointments and in-person meetings, as long as safety protocols are in place and followed, he said. The official date for reopening was April 5.

Although in-person meetings are now allowable, many counties are continuing to use virtual platforms to conduct meetings or holding hybrid meetings in which some attend virtually and some in person.

“We can continue to use the virtual format for some of our meetings to save members time and travel,” Sigler said. “In other cases, we will want to have in-person meetings that allow for more social interaction – something I know we have all missed.   As Farm Bureau looks at meetings this spring, we will continue to consider which format will work best for each meeting based on the business that needs to take place and on keeping our members safe.”
