Back when Indiana Farm Bureau started researching how to provide a health care benefit for its members, one of its main goals was offering something that would provide members with options that would save them money.

The result is Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans, a series of Traditional Health Plans that offer more affordable options for Farm Bureau members.

“These plans were built to provide significant cost savings for sole proprietors who do not have access to an employer’s health insurance plan,” said Patrick Williams, INFB Health Plans manager. “Our plans use reliable, known providers including UnitedHealthcare, VSP and Delta Dental so that our members can have peace of mind.”

On average, when compared to non-subsidized Affordable Care Act plans, INFB members will find that individual traditional plans can be 30-50% less and traditional  family plans can be 50-70% less.

“There are some dramatic savings,” Williams said.

One of the reasons INFB Health Plans are able to offer such significant savings is that the plans are underwritten, which means that coverage is partly based on a member’s health status.

Coverage is nationwide, and plans are portable anywhere a member may live in Indiana, with no defined service area.

Enrollment opened Oct. 1, and existing INFB members may apply for coverage at any time, with coverage beginning as early as January 2021. New members must wait 30 days before applying for coverage.
