2020 Estate and Succession Planning Workshop Goes Virtual

Jun 16, 2020, 14:11 PM by Brady Hagerty, INFB Marketing Team

The Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation’s 2020 Estate and Succession Planning for the Family Farm event will still happen this July, but will be via Zoom, an online video conferencing service. Due to the uncertainty surrounding large gatherings taking place this summer, the decision was made to ensure the speakers, staff, members and guests are safe.

“It’s important to move forward with hosting a virtual event to ensure families and attorneys learn the importance of estate and succession planning for their family or business,” said John Shoup, director of the INAgLaw Foundation. “We understand this year’s format will pose some challenges to those used to attending in person, but it’s our goal to provide as much value as we can via Zoom because succession planning is essential for many farm families.”

Unlike previous years, there’s no cost to attend. The 2020 workshop also will take place over three days, with different presentations scheduled on July 21, 22 and 23.

Each presentation will be 60 minutes, and participants will have ample time to ask questions.

Instead of all three presentations happening on one day, this year’s format should allow those interested to pick and choose which session they want to attend. Approval for attorney continuing legal education (CLE) credits is being sought.

The 2020 session dates, times and topics are as follows:

July 21 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

  • Farm Succession Planning: Fair Does Not Mean Equal, but Boy is it Hard to Talk About – Polly Dobbs, Dobbs Legal Group, LLC

    July 22 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

  • Succession Trends for Farm Operations Without a Current Successor – Adam J. Kline, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP

    July 23 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

  • Protecting Your Family’s Inheritance from the Nursing Home – Dan Gordon, Gordon and Associates P.C.

Registration opened June 10. You can register at infb.org/events or www.INAgLaw.org.
