As a salute to Indiana Farm Bureau’s past, present and future, each county Farm Bureau is being asked to contribute one small item that will be placed in a time capsule to be opened in 2069.
Filling the time capsule will be one of the activities at INFB’s state convention during the evening program for Friday, Dec. 13. Each county president or other county representative will bring one item and place it in a time capsule that will be located on stage, said Debra DeCourcy, APR, INFB’s chief marketing director.
Once all 92 counties have added their items, the time capsule will be sealed and stored in INFB’s headquarters.
When asked what might be a suitable contribution, DeCourcy said, “Be creative but also remember that space is limited.”
To ensure that donations from all 92 counties fit into the time capsule, each item needs to be either flat or fall within very specific dimensions, she explained. Every county will be given a box of the correct dimensions. In addition, she added, every regional manager will have a sample of the box.
Items should be specific and special to that county, she added. Examples of items for consideration would be a photo of the county board, a newspaper clipping covering a county activity, an item displaying a county logo or a message on a piece of letterhead from county leadership.
Details on the time capsule will be sent to all county presidents.
“Use your imagination,” she added.
