How large an impact can one group have when everyone works together toward a common goal? Approximately 50 tons’ worth.
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Indiana Farm Bureau launched a statewide charitable-giving campaign called 100 Pounds for 100 Years. Each county Farm Bureau was challenged to collect at least 100 pounds of food and donate it to a local charity prior to INFB’s anniversary on March 25. Counties could also give monetary donations.
Nearly every county Farm Bureau rose to the challenge, and for most their donations exceeded 100 pounds. In total, approximately 100,000 pounds of food was donated to more than 90 charities across the state.
“That’s way beyond the goal of 100 pounds per county!” noted campaign coordinator Molly Zentz, INFB senior public relations manager.
The total number of pounds includes more than 7,300 pounds donated by INFB and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance employees to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. While each district had exceptional results, District 9 donated the most with more than 12,000 pounds of food. Districts 5 and 1 also donated approximately 10,000 pounds of food.
It was only fitting that INFB members celebrated this milestone by giving back to their communities – as they have for the past 100 years, Zentz said. “Congratulations to each county who donated at least 100 pounds in honor of INFB’s 100th anniversary!” she added.
