Indiana Farm Bureau today announced the promotion of Shelby Swain to associate policy adviser, state government relations. With her promotion, Swain now serves as part of the organization’s Statehouse lobby team. Her lobbying efforts primarily focus on budget and fiscal issues in the General Assembly. In her expanded role working the General Assembly, she is gaining more in-depth knowledge of INFB’s state priorities and building the necessary relationships with legislators to implement those priority issues.
Swain began her career with INFB as a public policy intern during the 2016 legislative session. Following that session, she was promoted to associate policy analyst, a position she held until her most recent promotion.
Swain has a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in agricultural economics, with a concentration in quantitative analysis, and is currently finishing her master’s degree in agricultural economics (also at Purdue). The skills and technical expertise gained from that program have strengthened the research capabilities she brings to INFB.
“It is an honor and a privilege for me to join such a well-respected Statehouse lobby team,” said Swain. “I enjoy working with legislators to implement policy aimed at making Indiana the best place for our members to live, farm and raise a family.”
