Indiana Farm Bureau to hold convention Dec. 8-10 in Fort Wayne

Media representatives are invited to attend the Indiana Farm Bureau state convention, Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 8-10. Most of the activities will be at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. A full schedule of events is available on the convention website, www.infb.org/convention. An app with the most up-to-date information is available for download at www.infb.org/convention/app. A number of meal tickets for convention meals have been reserved for media. Please check in at Jefferson B. Interview and work areas will be available for reporters there.

Convention highlights

§  An expo (trade show) takes place Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

§  County and membership awards will be presented on Friday, Dec. 9, during the 1 p.m. general session. The session also features a keynote address from agricultural advocate Trent Loos.

§  INFB President Randy Kron delivers his address during an evening session on Friday, Dec. 9, which runs from 6-8:30 p.m. The session also includes the final round of the Discussion Meet (winner announced on Saturday) and Rural Teacher of the Year, Farm Family of the Year and Hovde Award winners.

§  The election for INFB vice president will be held during the delegate session on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10:15 a.m. Delegates are also expected to discuss what Indiana farmers need in the new farm bill, which Congress is expected to start working on next spring. This discussion is in preparation for the American Farm Bureau annual meeting next month.

§  Recognition for winners of the Young Farmer Achievement Award, Young Farmer Excellence in Agriculture Award and Young Farmer Discussion Meet is on Saturday during the noon session. The Peterson Farm Bros, three brothers who create farm parodies of popular songs, will present at that session.
