Direct cash cattle trade is off to a quiet start today. Bids and asking prices haven’t developed just yet. Showlists this week are mixed – higher in Texas, Nebraska, and Colorado, but lower in Kansas. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until midweek or later and with it being the end of the month, it wouldn’t be surprising if the bulk of this week’s business holds off until Friday.
Boxed beef is sharply higher at midday on strong demand for
light to moderate offerings. Choice is
$3.38 higher at $231.28 and Select is $2.71 higher at $203.47. The Choice/Select spread is $27.81.
