USDA’s meteorologist says don’t expect a late-season warm up anytime soon.
“We are expecting below normal temperatures, particularly across the upper reaches of the Midwest.”
Brad Rippey says a cool Canadian air mass is moving across
the Great Plains and Midwest.
“One of the biggest concerns with that cool air across the Midwest is that corn and soybeans are developing so slowly and so late this year, we’d like to see some late summer heat—that is not going to happen.”
Rippey says most areas outside of the Midwest should receive a late-season warm up and precipitation is expected to be normal to above normal for the start of September.
