China has issued a new warning that if the U.S. follows through on a threat to impose new import tariffs on September 1st, it will be forced to retaliate.
A spokesman for China’s Commerce Ministry told reporters he’s hopeful the two countries can meet each other halfway and find a solution to the trade dispute. But he stressed that China is prepared to take “counter measures” if necessary. He refused to say what form that retaliation might take, however.
