Bringing the USMCA up for a vote was the main focus of a meeting between Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Illinois Farm Bureau representatives in Springfield Wednesday.
IFB President Richard Guebert tells Brownfield Pelosi made no commitment to call the bill after the August recess but he is encouraged by her desire to get it passed by the end of the year.
“I encouraged her, as soon as the August recess is over, that she should call the bill and that we could get overwhelming bipartisan support for the USMCA like we did for the farm bill almost a year ago.”
