Ohio has passed a bill to legalize hemp and Ty Higgins with Ohio Farm Bureau says the move puts Ohio on a level playing field with other states growing hemp.
“How well will hemp grow in the Buckeye state – we have no idea,” he says. “There’s a lot of testing that is going to start right away to let farmers know, but I think if anything it gives farmers another option.”
Higgins says hemp likely won’t replace corn or soybeans, but
it will give farmers another crop option.
