Two major commodity groups are urging President Trump to uphold his commitment to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
The National Corn Growers Association and American Soybean Association, in a joint op-ed, call on Trump to instruct the EPA to stop undermining the RFS by granting waivers to big oil companies. They say the refinery exemptions have reduced demand for renewable fuels and lowered the price of corn and soybeans.
For ethanol, the waivers limit growth of higher ethanol blends and undo the positives provided by year-round E15, according to NCGA and ASA.
