U.S. corn and soybean development made some strides last week, but remains slower than normal. Conditions in much of the Midwest have ranged from record wet during planting to drier over the past few weeks as both crops move through key development phases.
As of Sunday, 78% of U.S. corn is silking, compared to the five-year average of 93%, with 23% at the dough-making stage, compared to 42% on average. 57% of the crop is rated good to excellent, down 1% from the previous week and 14% below a year ago.
