Direct cash cattle business is scattered. A handful of sales are being
reported at $114.50 on the live basis in the north, steady with last week’s
weighted average in Nebraska. It’s generally been a lightly traded week, with
most of the live sales at $111, about $1 lower than the previous week, and $180
to $185 dressed. Most of Thursday’s dressed sales were at $183, steady with the
prior week. Even if packers were short coming into the week, today’s business will
probably be limited to clean-up.
