A yield survey conducted by analytical firm INTL FCStone projects a nationwide average yield of 167 bushels for corn and 47 for soybeans.
Analyst Arlan Suderman says there were a couple of surprises in the state-by-state numbers for corn yields.
“I was a little bit surprised that Illinois came in at 185,” Suderman says. “Basically, in my conversations with agronomists in Illinois, they were coming in with statewide numbers a little bit lower than that.”
On the other hand, Suderman says, the estimate for Iowa may be a little low.
