Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed a bill decriminalizing hemp today.
Senate Bill 57 paves a way for the development of the state’s
new hemp industry.
Talking to media today, DeWine said they were able to pass the
legislation after the federal government took steps (in the 2018 Farm Bill) to
allow states to implement hemp programs.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture will administer the program,
which sets up a licensing structure for farmers interested in growing and processing
hemp.
