The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Danielle Beck, senior director of government affairs, says they’re all about the competition in the meat case. “We support consumer choice in the marketplace,” she says. Beck says she’s confident in beef’s position as the center of the plate protein.
But, she tells Brownfield she does want to see truth in labeling. “It’s about fair, reasonable marketing to consumers and making sure that consumers know exactly what it is they are buying when they make decisions in the grocery store,” she says. “A lot of these companies that are selling and producing plant-based products are being a little bit disingenuous in the way they market their products.”
