Direct cash cattle markets are quiet. Trade last week was slow to
develop, eventually getting underway at mostly $112 live, up $1 from the
previous week, and mainly $183 dressed, which was steady. Today’s big feature
should be the further assessment of last week’s business and the distribution
of this week’s showlist. Buyers and sellers are watching the wholesale market
for late summer demand clues and keeping an eye on futures.
Boxed beef at midday was higher with light to moderate movement.
