Across the Corn Belt, showers and thunderstorms in
the vicinity of a cold front stretch from Michigan to Missouri. The showers are
especially beneficial for reproductive corn and soybeans in the central Corn
Belt that have received little rain in recent weeks. Meanwhile, cooler, drier
air is overspreading the upper Midwest.
On the Plains, dry weather and near- or below-normal
temperatures prevail in the wake of a cold front’s passage. Across the northern
Plains, the dry weather favors winter wheat harvesting and the maturation of
spring-sown small grains.
