Soybeans were modestly higher on short covering and technical buying, but the most active months still lost about $.18 on the week. There was a little bit more cautious optimism ahead of the upcoming talks with China. It remains to be seen what can be done in this round of negotiations following some of the recent rhetoric, but any step forward would a positive. The talks start Tuesday in Shanghai. Chinese soybean demand has declined because of African Swine Fever and lower protein content from Brazil.
