Michigan’s
governor says she wanted to build a budget around prioritizing agriculture in
the state which is why she’s calling for increased infrastructure funding.
While
meeting with ag leaders in Lenawee County Thursday, Gretchen Whitmer told Brownfield she’s proud
of the state’s ag diversity and wants to support farmers.
“It’s a great source of pride for our state and also a great source of economic strength and that’s why it’s so important that we focus on the ag industry and support it when it’s in need.”
Representatives of
Michigan ag business, Farm Bureau and local farmers shared how the difficult
growing season has been and they’re worried the worst storm hasn’t hit yet.
