Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a $20 million grant
program to help provide broadband to rural areas.
Funding is available to internet service providers to
expand access to underserved areas in the state, especially the Upper Peninsula
and Northern Michigan.
A recent study found a lack of broadband access is limiting
an additional $2.5 billion in economic activity in Michigan.
