The USDA says dairy product production picked up during June.
Total cheese production was slightly above one billion pounds, up 1.6 percent from last year and 1.5 percent above April. Italian cheese production was up on the year while American cheese was lower.
Butter production was down slightly more than four percent from last year and one percent from last month.
Nonfat dry milk was up five percent from 2018 and skim milk powder was down more than 40 percent. Dry whey production was down more than eight percent. Lactose was up nearly 14 percent from last year.
