There are restrictions farmers should be aware of when
planting alfalfa on prevented plant acres.
National Alfalfa and Forage Alliance president Beth Nelson
says alfalfa is a great choice as a cover crop, especially with the harvest
date moving up to September first.
She tells Brownfield another option is to plant alfalfa as a 2020 crop without incurring any penalty to their prevent plant payment.
