During the next several days, loosely organized showers and thunderstorms will occur in the vicinity of a series of weak cold fronts crossing the Plains and Midwest.
Some of the heaviest rain should fall across the northern Plains and upper Midwest, where 5-day totals could reach 2 to 4 inches or more in some locations. In contrast, only widely scattered showers will affect the South. Meanwhile, mostly dry weather will prevail west of the Rockies, except for isolated Northwestern showers.
